The Mokele-Mbembe is a large monster which dwells near the Congo River of Africa. Many expeditions have been led to the Congo in search of the beast, but without success. The Mokele-Mbembe is a very large territorial herbivore, around the size of a small elephant, similar to the Loch Ness Monster. It is said to live in Lake Tele and surrounds, preffering deep water and river bends.
Like many cryptids, descriptions vary. In some legends it is an elephant-like creature with a long neck and tail, but a small head, which looks like the now extinct Sauropoda.
